Bus and Ferry to Chiloé
The island of Chiloé is 250km long, 50 km wide with a population of 166,000 who live mostly on the sheltered eastern side. Regular ferries cross the straits of Pargua so I decided to pop over for the night. We saw seals, birds and dolphins en route and there's a penguin colony nearby. The name Chiloé comes from the words chille, meaning 'seagull', and hue, meaning 'place'. Chiloé is the place of seagulls.
