This is the lovey town of Pucòn set in farmland on the shores of Lake Villarrica and overlooked by a volcano of the same name. It's the Chilean Lake District and homeland of the Mapuche, the people who resisted the Spaniards and
who proudly maintain their culture and traditions. There's lots to do here including climbing the volcano, white-water rafting, canyoning, hiking or just walking along the beach and having a swim.

The history is so fascinating - the natives were so brave to resist the Spaniards who were so cruel, trying to strip them of their religions, identities and traditions! Have you heard anyone speak any Quechuan where you've been? I think about 13 million people in the Andean region i.e Chile, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, speak it still - it was the official language of the Inca Empire too! Suz xx
