Cacao Fruit

This was a surprise - the cacao fruit grows on the side of a tree trunk and resembles a hand grenades. Our guide broke one in half to reveal these sticky, white, gooey kernels which you can suck on. The seeds inside are purple and are cooked and used to make cacao (chocolate).
