Monkey and Snake

Saw herds of wild pigs but they ran away as soon as they smelled us - the guide said they don't like our scent and think we humans stink! Lots of monkeys swinging from the canopy, mostly red howlers and black spider monkeys like the one in the picture. They have long arms and legs and move fast through the trees so they're difficult to photograph especially with a small zoom. They're a favourite food for some of the indigenous tribes in the northeast Amazon. The snake is a fer-de-lance (spearhead), same family as the pit viper and the 2nd most poisonous snake in the Amazon according to our guide. He said it's quite aggressive and kills more people than any other animal in the jungle - glad it was sleeping!
